I just discovered (in the sense gross) that my cat has tapeworms, I went on 1800petmeds.com buy the more expensive drug that have, but before it was wondering if you could give me reviews on what worked the best for you. (The appointment of the monitor that can get as close to you is 2 weeks away, so I need something immediately).

my cat had tapewroms too, she threw up on the carpet and it wiggled it’s way on the floor. Ask a veterinarian, i think that would be the best. Good luck!

Go to PetsMart, and get some there. You will probably have to request it up front, cause they usually don’t put it out on the shelf. It’s kinda expensive, but worth it. It’s what I have used for my cats.

2There are some Vet’s that will give you tape worm medication, just as long as they see a stool sample. Also the medication they will give you is called Droncit (brand name) its know as Praziquantel, it will take care of them with one dose!

you shouldnt need an appointment with the vet to get medication. our cat had tapeworms and i just went in, told them that he had tapeworms, they ask how much the cat weighs and you buy the medication right there, they dont even need to see the cat as long as your sure what kind of worms they are. the medication is either liquid or a tablet that u put down their throat. its not expensive at all. the next day, no more worms! works very fast if u get it from the vet

I have 8 cats and always use Drontal. It is a complete wormer and recommended by my vet.

There is only ONE way to get a tape worm and that is to eat a FLEA, that has eaten a tapeworm egg.

The ONLY way for a animal to get tapeworms is to ingest the host (flea that has ingested a tapeworm egg)… not the egg. There is no other way. The flea eating the egg activates the egg… which then hatches in your cat’s intestine after the cat ingests the flea.

You have to eat the host. There is NO other way to get tapeworms.

You will need a wormer from your vet to kill the tapeworms. I recommend Drontal. You will also need to treat your cat with a flea treatment. I recommend a Capstar pill to kill the fleas instantly and then Frontline Plus spot on to make sure your cat does not get infested again.

Do NOT use OTC wormers. They are not safe and can kill your cat. Not to mention they don’t work very well. Wormer is a pesticide so don’t be cheap when buying it. Do what is safe and buy from your vet.

Plus… those tapetabs from petmeds cost WAY more than vet meds. Just call the vet and ask them if you can drop off a stool sample now and get the meds then follow up in 2 weeks with your appointment.
